Message from Dave Houliston

This effects Health Care Scientists and their career progression and is linked though National Occupational Standards(NOS) to Agenda for Change.

One of my main complaints about NOS and related matters is the lack, or extremely short notice to attend relevant Meetings convened by the Chief Scientific Officer, resulting in many of our members being unable to negotiate time off for these very influential events.

This has resulted in our members being inadequately represented at this embryonic level in their future career planning.

This time, clearly the DOH has listened and has given adequate notice for this to be agreed with employers.

However I would be happier if more suitable Amicus members applied, than there were places available on this occasion.

It does not matter if you have never attended any of the previous events.

Please read the attachment, check your diaries for your own speciality and apply to attend.

Participation is the only way to make a difference.

Please let me know if there are any problems or if further advice is required.
